Paper Title:
SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISATION OF ZINC DOPED CDS THIN FILM FOR SOLAR APPLICATION
Publised in    (VOLUME 3 NUMBER 3 OCTOBER 2021)
Abstract:

Thin films of cadmium sulphide (CdS) were deposited on soda lime glass substrate after which the films were then doped using Zinc (Zn) dopant at different concentrations. The effects of the different concentrations on the properties of the films were investigated. The films were characterised using an X-ray diffractometer to investigate the structural properties of the films, scanning electron microscopy for the morphology, four-point probe for the electrical properties, UV-spectroscopy for the optical properties and X-ray fluorescent was used to study the elemental composition.  The results show that an increase in the doping concentrations resulted in a corresponding increase in the crystallinity of the films. The layers crystallised with the cubic structure. The film thickness measured was found to increase with an increase in the concentration of the dopants. The film thickness was in the range 0.29 µm to 0.61 µm.
