Abstract:

Conflicts in Nigeria predates the colonial era of Nigeria and has worsened in Nigeria's Fourth republic. This conflict ranges from the ethnoreligious quagmire, political impasse, arson, abduction, banditry, hue for secession, to mention but a few. All these conflicts are precipitated by bad governance, lack of quality education for citizens, underdevelopment, poor leadership quality, corruption, etc., which have all transmogrified into lost of citizens' lives, properties, displacement, starvation, brain drain, etc. Yet all these conflict situations must be covered and reported by the media for the benefit of society, thereby putting the lives of such reporters at risk of being  harassed, incarcerated or at the extreme killed. The mass media is doing its best to cover conflicts in Nigeria, but all these factors constitute clogs to their progress. Hence government should foster an enabling environment for the conflict reporter on a violent beat and address those issues that always culminate into conflict in this Fourth Republic. The paper made recommendations on how to enthrone a  better journalism practice.
