Abstract:

The study evaluated the role of the national poverty alleviation programme (NAPEP) in poverty reduction on youth empowerment programmes in post-covid-19 era in Orumba South Local Government Area, Anambra state (2020-2021). One of the objectives of the study was to ascertain the impact of the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) on capacity acquisition programme, mandatory attachment programme and credit delivery programmes in Anambra state. Three research questions and hypotheses guided the study and we tested one hypothesis. The survey design was adopted for the study. The study adopted an integrated rural development approach propounded by Hallet. Taro-Yamani’s formula was used to determine the sample size of 400. The data collected were used for descriptive statistics. One of the findings revealed that the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) has no significant influence on the delivery of credit facilities to the youths of Anambra State (Y = 43.954 + .394, 0.12 > 0.05). One of the recommendations showed that The Federal Government should revisit the Credit Delivery Programme (CDP) and make it proactive especially at the state level.
